Use and Awareness of Open Access Scholarly Communication in Institutions of Technical Education: A study

Abstract



Change is the law of nature and it is very apparent in the present library culture, system, working and function. The last three decades have been unprecedented changes in the field of library and information services due to fast development in the field of information technology tools and services. Due to this development open access movement emerged and gained considerable traction. It has become the most successful reform movement in the modern time. It becomes a times demand to transform the scholarly communication system. It has struck a sympathetic cord in the library field, though there are so many different controversial views regarding this movement even then it has been gladly accepted to make the library collections infect safe and preserve for so many years due to involvement of the library and information professionals for indentifying, synthesis, organizing and facilitating the access of open access scholarly communication. The paper discusses a case study on the use and awareness of open access resources in the institution of technology education in India. These papers has not only covered the usage of open access resources but also have discussed how the scholars have created awareness about open access resources among students scholars and faculty members at institutions of technical education.
